Kantele Laulu, Inc. sponsors a variety of workshops and
presentations. From performance-based to hands-on, we can
tailor a program to fit your needs. Here are some current
offerings and suggestions:
Private or Small-Group Instruction
Anyone with an interest in the kantele can learn to play!
Members of The Maine Kanteles came from a variety of
backgrounds - from school music teachers to those with little or no
musical experience! It can be done! Contact Sarah
Cummings-Ridge at the email address below to get started or to ask
questions.
Students will need to have a kantele (10-string recommended
to start). The links below are good sources for quality kanteles
from Finland and information is available in English (most members
of The Maine Kanteles play instruments from Soitinrakentajat
AmF).

Organize a Workshop in Your Area
Let us come to you! Within the New England area, we are
able to travel to your community. We have kanteles available
for workshop use and we can also provide assistance for anyone
interested in purchasing a kantele. Book a one-time workshop
or an on-going series. No musical experience is required to
learn to play the kantele.
For Your Community, School, or Cultural Organization
We can provide informative, entertaining presentations for all
ages. Kantele history, styles of music, current trends, and
other related topics can be included. Or...perhaps you'd like
a general performance. For school children, we suggest
incorporating elements of Finnish culture such as dance, weaving,
foods, and language. We have a number of 5- and 10-string
kanteles available to provide introductory experience. Tell us
your interests and we can build a program for you.
